What 2025 and 2026 looked like

IPMA described the winter of 2025/26 as warm and very rainy for mainland Portugal. On 6 February 2026 the Douro flooded parts of Miragaia and Ribeira in Porto and Afurada in Gaia. Summer 2026 was the third hottest in mainland Portugal since 1931, with heat waves from 9 to 24 June and from 29 June to 11 July, and a late-August rain event. The figures are IPMA’s for mainland Portugal, not Porto alone.
