The Metro
Line E (violet) runs from Aeroporto through Senhora da Hora and Casa da Música to Trindade, and on to Estádio do Dragão. Metro do Porto’s timetable valid from 7 September 2026 has the first train from Aeroporto at about 06:06 and the last at about 00:42, and ANA, which runs the airport, says trains pass every 20 or 30 minutes depending on the time and day.
- The fare is a Z4 single, €2.30. It is valid for 1 hour 15 minutes from the first validation, and it needs the paper Andante Azul card, €0.60, bought once and valid for a year. That is €2.90 on a first ride. A Z2 ticket at €1.40 does not reach the airport. Buy ten identical singles and the eleventh is free.
- Andante Tour 1 at €7.75 for 24 hours is cheaper than singles if you will ride at least three more times. Porto public transport has the Tour tickets, the zones and the validation rule.
- Contactless bank cards work as a pilot: tap at a validator marked with the contactless logo at Aeroporto, Senhora da Hora, Casa da Música or Trindade, and you are charged a Z4 single, valid for 1 hour 15 minutes, capped at €7.75 a day from the fourth trip. It works only at those marked validators, so it does not cover every Metro station.
- Validate at the start of every journey and at every change, with the card out of your wallet.

Buses
STCP runs three day routes and one night route from the airport (STCP).
- 601 (Cordoaria to the airport) and 602 (Cordoaria to the airport via Padrão de Moreira) run 05:30 to 00:30, about every 25 minutes, with hours that vary through the year.
- 604 (Hospital São João to the airport via Crestins) runs 06:00 to 21:00, about every 30 minutes.
- 3M, the night bus, runs from Avenida dos Aliados to the airport between 00:30 and 05:30, every 60 minutes.
- A single ticket bought on board is €2.50, one journey only, paid in cash, by MB WAY or by contactless card. Andante tickets also work.
Taxis, Uber and Bolt
Taxis run on the meter, and Uber and Bolt operate from the airport, with the fare shown in the app before you confirm. Follow the app’s pickup instruction rather than waiting outside arrivals.
Private transfers
A transfer takes you from arrivals to the hotel door, with a driver waiting, and suits a family with bags or an arrival at night. Prices are GetYourGuide’s lowest “from” prices.
- Porto Airport: Private Transfer to or From Portoad is from €26 for a group of up to 4 (4.6 stars from 323 reviews, 30 minutes).
- Porto Airport: Private Transfer to Portoad is from €75 for a group of up to 4, with a driver holding a name sign in arrivals (4.5 stars from 2,974 reviews, 40 minutes), and the luggage allowance is 4 large and 4 carry-on bags.

From the Leixões cruise terminal
The Porto Cruise Terminal is on the Molhe Sul at the Port of Leixões, in Matosinhos, north of the city, and Leixões also has a North Cruise Terminal (APDL). The Port of Leixões had 152 cruise calls and 195,833 passengers in 2024.
- Metro: line A runs from Matosinhos into the city centre. Buy a ticket for the zones at the station machine.
- Bus: STCP line 500 runs from Praça da Liberdade in the centre to Matosinhos Mercado, and takes contactless payment at the marked stops.
- Taxi: the meter, from the terminal.
- Sundays: the terminal building is open for guided tours on Sundays, €5 (€3.50 reduced, children under 12 free), with no need to book.
After you arrive
Andante Tour tickets cover the Metro and STCP buses but not the historic trams: see Porto public transport. Where to stay in Porto compares the areas, and what to book before you go to Porto lists the city tickets and the entry rules for Portugal. Porto in 2 days starts from the centre, and the Porto day trips leave from São Bento and Campanhã stations.
Common questions
How do you get from Porto airport to the city centre?
Take Metro line E (violet) from the Aeroporto station to Trindade, the main interchange. It runs about every 20 to 30 minutes, and the ticket is a Z4 single at €2.30, plus €0.60 for the paper Andante Azul card on a first ride, so €2.90. STCP buses 601, 602 and 604 are the alternatives.
How much is the Metro from Porto airport?
€2.30 for a Z4 single, valid for 1 hour 15 minutes, plus €0.60 for the Andante Azul card the first time. Buying Z2 at €1.40 is the common mistake: the airport needs Z4. Contactless bank cards work at marked validators at Aeroporto, Senhora da Hora, Casa da Música and Trindade, charged as a Z4 single.
Is there a night bus from Porto airport?
Yes. STCP night bus 3M runs between Avenida dos Aliados and the airport hourly from 00:30 to 05:30. The Metro's last train from the airport is about 00:42 and the first about 06:06.
How much is a taxi from Porto airport to the centre?
Taxis run on the meter, and Uber and Bolt show the fare in their apps before you book. A private transfer booked ahead is from €26 for up to four people on GetYourGuide, or €75 for a meet-and-greet transfer.
How do you get from the Leixões cruise terminal to Porto?
The Porto Cruise Terminal is on the Molhe Sul at the Port of Leixões, in Matosinhos. Metro line A and STCP bus 500 serve Matosinhos and run to the centre of Porto, and a taxi is the other way.
