Signal Festival, 15 to 18 October 2026

Signal is a festival of light and digital art, with 21 installations at 17 locations on two routes: the city centre, and Dejvice, a route added for the first time in 2026. It runs every day from 19:00 to 24:00. Thirteen installations are free. Signal INSIDE, eight installations in interiors that are normally closed, needs a ticket from GoOut: a one-day ticket starts at 340 CZK and a four-day ticket at 440 CZK. The afterparties at the SaSaZu club, on 16, 17 and 18 October, are a separate ticket (signalfestival.com).

New Year’s Eve and 1 January

31 December 2026 is a Thursday, and 1 January 2027 is a Friday and a public holiday. No city fireworks display has been announced for 2026 and 2027. Consumer fireworks are banned in the historic centre and along the river: Prague has had a city decree against them since 2020 (Seznam Zprávy), and its 2024 version covered the heritage reserve and a strip of 50 m on each side of the water, with fines of up to 10,000 CZK on the spot (Pražský deník). Old Town Square held a free party in 2025, with a children’s show at 17:00, then a band and a DJ taking turns from 19:00 to midnight, stalls open to 22:00 and food stands to midnight (Taiko); the organiser has not published the 2026 programme. Many restaurants close or shorten their hours around the holidays, so book.
