💡 The Short Version: Watching the clock is free: the apostles appear in its windows every hour, until 23:00. The Old Town Hall tower is 350 CZK at the door, plus 100 CZK for the lift, and half price in the first hour after opening (9:00 to 10:00 from April to December). The online skip-the-line ticket is 450 CZK and covers the tower only. Prague City Tourism is the only official seller. The tour of the interiors is 150 or 100 CZK on top, paid on the day. Some of the clock’s statues are out for restoration until October. Or book a tour: the Old Town, Astronomical Clock and Underground Tourad (from £29.14, GetYourGuide) includes the tower and the underground.

How to buy
- At the door: the ticket office is on the ground floor. Buy the entry, then add the lift or an interiors tour at the same desk.
- Online: the skip-the-line ticket is sold on prague.eu through Prague City Tourism’s ticket network, and the entry tickets are on GetYourGuidead, where Prague City Tourism is the listed provider. Go to the “priority” counter on the ground floor with your voucher, then up to the third floor for the tower.
- Go at 9:00 from April to December for the half-price first hour. From January to March the building opens at 10:00.
Tours worth paying for
The tower and the clock need no guide. The tours below add the Old Town’s history, and one includes the Old Town Hall’s underground. Prices are GetYourGuide’s lowest “from” prices, per person.
A walking tour that ends in the tower
From £29.14 to £32.38 · 4.8 stars from 1,180 reviews · 2 to 3 hours
Prague: Old Town, Astronomical Clock and Underground Tourad is run by PRAGUEWAY Tours in English. It meets at Mostecká 4 in Malá Strana, crosses Charles Bridge, walks the Old Town and Josefov, then goes inside the Old Town Hall for the underground and the tower. Choose the option with the underground: the listing sells the walk with and without the Old Town Hall interiors, and only the first includes the tower ticket. Not suitable for children under 10. Free cancellation.
The tower with a 20-minute introduction
From £29.82 · 4.5 stars from 827 reviews · 20 minutes
Prague: Astronomical Clock Tower Entry Ticket and Audio Guidead is a tower ticket collected from the operator’s office near the tower, with a short introduction in English and an audio guide on your phone. It costs more than twice the 350 CZK door price, so it suits a visitor who wants the introduction, not one who wants the cheapest ticket. Free cancellation.
What to see
Allow about 20 minutes at the tower.
- The clock from the square. Stand in Old Town Square before the hour. Every hour the twelve wooden apostles appear in the windows. Four moving figures, vanity, the miser, death and the Turk, sit beside the dial, and four fixed statues stand around it: the philosopher, the astronomer, the chronicler and the Archangel Michael, with a gilded rooster on top. The Old Town Hall was founded in 1338, and the clock’s tower is the oldest part of it.
- The tower. The gallery is at 42 m, with a view over the square, the Castle in the distance and the Old Town’s towers. Take the lift or climb. The tower and lift are barrier-free; the historical interiors are not.
- The Knights’ Hall. On the first floor: the exhibition The Resurrection of a Bell and a digital 3D model of the clock. Both are in the basic ticket.
- The interiors tour. Circuit A takes in the Gothic chapel, which has a view of the apostles, the state rooms and the underground; circuit B is the Romanesque-Gothic underground alone. In October, English tours leave about hourly from 10:00 to 17:30, with a last one at 19:00, and the day’s schedule is on the Old Town Hall’s page.

The statues: restorers took eight statues off the clock in two stages from 11 May 2026. The first four, the philosopher, Archangel Michael, the astronomer and the chronicler, were back by 24 July, and the next four are due back in October 2026.
What to skip: the interiors tour surcharge if you only want the view. Entry already includes the tower and the Knights’ Hall, and the tour is an extra 100 to 150 CZK.

Next door: the Clementinum
The Clementinum tour is 380 CZK (230 CZK reduced, 810 CZK family) and runs through the Baroque Library, which you look into but do not enter, the Meridian Hall with period astronomical instruments, and the Astronomical Tower, whose circular balcony at 52 m takes 172 steps with no lift. Tickets are e-tickets only, released every Monday for the following two weeks, the tours are limited in size, and the box office is not guaranteed to sell on the day. The first two tours each morning, 9:00 in English and 9:30 in Czech, are half price. It is open every day, 9:00 to 20:00. Prague City Tourism sells the tickets. GetYourGuide sells a concert in the Mirror Chapelad (from £26.13), which is a concert ticket, not the tour.

Hours, rules and getting there
- Hours: 9:00 to 20:00 every day from April to December, and 10:00 to 19:00 every day from January to March.
- Rules: strollers, large bags, food and drink, selfie sticks and tripods are not allowed inside the Old Town Hall.
- Access: the tower lift takes 10 people. A mechanical wheelchair is available for visitors who use an electric one.
- Getting there: the Old Town Hall is on Old Town Square, a short walk from the Staroměstská and Můstek stops on metro line A. Prague public transport has the fares.
- Two more towers: the Charles Bridge towers and the Petřín Tower are run by the same operator, and a Prague Visitor Pass covers them all.
The clock is beside the Jewish Quarter, whose museum is closed on Saturdays, and close to Charles Bridge. Prague Castle is the other sight to book, and Vyšehrad is a free fortress above the river. The Prague Visitor Pass includes the Old Town Hall with its lift, the Clementinum and both bridge towers. For the rest of the city’s bookings, see what to book before you go in Prague. 3 days in Prague and Prague in one day build the plan round the bookings. To wake up on the square, hotels near Old Town Square lists the hotels, and where to stay in Prague compares the other areas. In December the square holds the markets in Prague’s Christmas markets guide. For the view from the water, Vltava river cruises compared lists the boats. After dark, ghost tours and medieval dinners start in the Old Town and the churches on the square host classical concerts; where to eat in Prague has the tables, and day trips from Prague covers the days away.
