The Guindais funicular

The Funicular dos Guindais, which climbs from the Ribeira to Batalha, has been closed since Saturday 18 July 2026 for maintenance, and STCP’s page says it is temporarily closed. The mayor told the council on 8 September 2026 that it will not reopen before the end of the year (JPN). It is not valid with Andante Tour tickets in any case.

Before you go

The trams are a ride, not a link: for getting across the city use the Metro and buses in Porto public transport. Porto walking tours compares the other ways to see the centre with a guide. Porto viewpoints and the Dom Luís I bridge are on the line 1 route, and the six bridges cruise shows the same river from the water. Porto in 2 days fits a tram ride into a day, and where to stay in Porto says which areas are near the stops. What to book before you go to Porto lists the city tickets.
