What to see

The garden covers 9,000 m² inside walls. The painter Jacques Majorelle laid it out from 1922, and Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé bought it in 1980 to save it from a hotel development.

  1. The garden (about an hour). Alleys cross on different levels between Art Deco and Moorish buildings in bold colours, among plants from distant regions. GetYourGuide lists the visit at 1 hour. Take the 08:00 slot if you can.
  2. The Pierre Bergé Museum of Berber Arts. It opened in 2011 in Majorelle’s former painting studio, inside the garden. More than 600 objects collected by Bergé and Saint Laurent fill four spaces, beginning with the history and geography of the Berbers (Amazighs) and a map of the main tribes, with audiovisual material along the route.
  3. The Yves Saint Laurent museum. It stands a short walk from the garden, in a separate 4,000 m² building with a 400 m² permanent exhibition, and it opens at 10:00. See the YSL museum guide.
