In this guide
💡 The Short Version: The Bahia Palace costs 100 MAD (about £7.50) for a foreign adult and 50 MAD for a child aged 7 to 13, bought on the Ministry of Culture’s e-services site or at the gate. There is no timed slot and no combined ticket with the Saadian Tombs or El Badi. It is listed as open 09:00 to 17:00. Restoration after the 2023 earthquake is still going on, so expect fenced-off areas, and go at 09:00 because the state says the palace is under heavy visitor pressure. Or book a tour: the Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, souk and medina tourad (from £13, 4 hours) adds a guide, and check what its ticket includes before you rely on it covering entry.
The ticket, compared
The operator is the Ministry of Culture. Prices are from its Bahia Palace ticket page, at about 13 MAD to the pound. Look-alike “official” sites turn up in search results and add a markup or a guide, so buy from the ministry.

Tours worth paying for
The ministry sells the entry, and GetYourGuide sells walking tours that include the palace. The tours that visit both the Bahia and the Saadian Tombs cost less than the two entry tickets together (200 MAD, about £15), so read “what’s included” on the product page before you assume entry is covered. Where it is not, pay the 100 MAD at the gate or on the ministry’s site. Prices are GetYourGuide’s lowest “from” prices, per person.

What to see
The palace was built in two phases on 8 hectares in the second half of the 19th century. It became the residence of the French Resident General in Marrakech in 1912.

- The four main courtyards. Each is different from the others, with fountains and gardens. The ministry describes the decoration as marble, carved wooden screens, tilework, stained glass, carved and painted wood and stucco, by Moroccan craftsmen.
- The salons and the garden. The palace is a series of courtyards, gardens, salons and annexes, and it once included a Moorish bath and treasure rooms.
- The restoration. The Grand Riad and the upper floor of the Menzah partly collapsed in the 2023 earthquake. In November 2025 the state listed work at the Riad Si Moussa, the Grand Marble Court and the Salle de la Favorite, and at the former Union des Femmes du Maroc building in the west garden, which was 80% complete.

What to skip: a guide offered at the gate, unless he shows an official badge. Allow about an hour for the palace, and go at 09:00: the state’s November 2025 report says the Bahia, the Saadian Tombs and the Ben Youssef Madrasa are under heavy pressure from visitor numbers.
Hours, rules and getting there
| Day | Hours |
|---|---|
| Every day | 09:00 to 17:00, as the ministry’s platform lists |
- Last entry: the platform publishes none, so arrive well before 17:00.
- Where: the Riad Zitoun Jdid quarter of the medina. The medina walk places it between Jemaa el-Fnaa and El Badi.
- Reduced mobility: entry is free.
The Saadian Tombs and El Badi Palace are the other two ministry monuments in the Kasbah quarter, and the Ben Youssef Madrasa and Le Jardin Secret are in the north of the medina. Marrakech after the earthquake lists what has reopened and what is still under restoration. For the rest of the city’s bookings, see what to book before you go to Marrakech. Marrakech medina tours and licensed guides compares the guided options, and Jemaa el-Fnaa and the souks are the rest of the old city. 3 days in Marrakech puts the palace in the Kasbah morning. To sleep nearby, hotels near Jemaa el-Fnaa lists the hotels beside the square, and where to eat in Marrakech lists places to eat.
Common questions
How much is the Bahia Palace in Marrakech?
100 MAD for a foreign adult (about £7.50) and 50 MAD for a foreign child aged 7 to 13. Moroccan or resident adults pay 30 MAD and children 10 MAD. Entry is free for visitors with reduced mobility, and for Moroccan nationals on Fridays and on the first day of national and religious holidays.
Where do I buy Bahia Palace tickets?
On the Ministry of Culture's e-services site, e-services.minculture.gov.ma, or at the gate. The ticket has no timed slot. Several look-alike sites sell the same entry at a mark-up.
What are the opening hours of the Bahia Palace?
The ministry's ticket platform lists 09:00 to 17:00. It does not publish a last-entry time.
Is the Bahia Palace still being restored after the earthquake?
Yes, in part. The palace reopened after the earthquake of 8 September 2023, and the state's November 2025 report to UNESCO lists works at the Riad Si Moussa, the Grand Marble Court and the Salle de la Favorite, and at the former Union des Femmes du Maroc building in the west garden. Expect some areas to be fenced off.
Is there a combined ticket for the Bahia Palace and the Saadian Tombs?
No. Each monument sells its own 100 MAD ticket. A guided tour that visits both is usually the cheaper way to see them with a guide, and you should read what its ticket includes.
Do I need a guide at the Bahia Palace?
No. A guide offered at the gate is optional, and the UK Foreign Office advises using only a guide with an official badge and permission from the local authority.
