  • Ronda, built on two sides of the El Tajo gorge, joined by the Puente Nuevo, an 18th-century bridge. The town’s tourism site lists the Puente Nuevo, the Casa del Rey Moro, the Baños Árabes, the walls, the Palacio de Mondragón and the Alameda del Tajo (turismoderonda.es). Allow the 2½ hours the small-group tours give it.
  • Setenil de las Bodegas, in Cádiz province, with houses carved into the rock; the tours give it up to 1 hour 15 minutes.
  • Zahara de la Sierra, a white village in the mountains, with a castle that is an optional visit on one tour; 35 to 40 minutes.
  • Grazalema, in the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve according to one listing, is the lunch stop on the olive oil tour.

Skip the Córdoba combination unless you will not otherwise see Córdoba: 13 hours is a long day on a coach.

Planning the day

  1. Choose by the villages: Zahara and Grazalema on the €47.40 tour, Setenil on the €49 tour, all three on the €95 tours.
  2. Wear walking shoes; Ronda and Setenil have cobbled streets and slopes, and the Córdoba combination says it involves inclines and stairs.
  3. Book ahead: the €95 tourad is marked likely to sell out on its listing.
  4. Carry the ID the tour asks for.

Ronda is one of the day trips from Seville; Córdoba and Granada are the train trips. Seville public transport covers the way to the coach station. What to book before you go to Seville lists the sights that need tickets, and where to stay in Seville compares the areas.
