Prices are the adult rate from the museum’s tickets page. Search results for the David include sites with “Accademia” in their web address that say on their own pages they are not the museum’s.

What to see

The David is a few rooms from the entrance, so a short visit never needs the stairs. The museum’s map runs in this order:

  1. The Hall of the Colossus. The entrance hall on the ground floor, with Botticelli’s Virgin and Child with the Infant St John the Baptist and Two Angels (1465 to 1470).
  2. The Gallery of the Prisoners, the approach to the Tribuna, lined with Michelangelo’s unfinished Prisoners.
  3. The Tribuna with the David, at the end of the Gallery of the Prisoners.
  4. The Gipsoteca, the plaster-cast hall, and the rooms of Pacino, of Giotto and his school, and of Giovanni da Milano and Orcagna.
  5. The Musical Instruments rooms on the ground floor, and on the first floor the late Gothic paintings of Lorenzo Monaco. Lo Scheggia’s Dance at a Wedding Party (about 1450) is in the Sala del Quattrocento, and two restored paintings by the Master of 1416 are on the first floor from 6 October 2026 to 14 March 2027.

What to skip: the first floor, if you have an hour. The ground floor holds the David, the Prisoners and the plaster casts, and the museum’s guided tours run for one hour. The musical instruments and first-floor rooms close from 18:40.

The Uffizi is the other booking to make first, and the Accademia and the Medici Chapels are on the same ticket group. Florence museums prices the Bargello and the others. Firenze Card: is it worth it? says whether the pass beats the €38 ticket. What to book before you go to Florence has the closed days, and Florence in one or two days puts the David at the first slot.
