Venezia Unica dates the feast to Saturday 17 July 2027, in the Bacino di San Marco. It calls it a magic night in which Venice lights up with tables on boats, popular celebrations and the atmosphere of the lagoon, and thousands of people gather in the Bacino for the fireworks over the water. The Redentore is tied to the city’s history: it was created to commemorate the end of the plague of 1575 to 1577, and Venetians still renew the rites, flavours and customs handed down through generations.

The Redentore church

The church that gives the feast its name stands on the Giudecca. It is the work of Andrea Palladio, according to VeneziaToday, and is one of the former Chorus churches that now open free from Monday to Saturday, 10:30 to 17:00. Its monumental sacristy is a paid space at €3.50, and the St Mark’s Basilica ticket opens the sacristy within six months: see Venice’s churches and St Mark’s Basilica tickets.

The Regata Storica is on Sunday 5 September 2027, according to the event’s official site. It is the main event of the year in voga alla veneta, the Venetian style of rowing practised in the lagoon for thousands of years, and is best known for the historical water pageant that precedes the race. The boats are the pupparin, the mascareta, the caorlina and the gondolino: fast boats used only for the Regata, and working boats that keep their original shapes.
The Film Festival is held on the Lido in early September, and the Architecture Biennale is open until 21 November: see the Venice Biennale 2027. The official site is regatastoricavenezia.it.
