Going on your own
Prices, hours and guide bookings are the memorial’s own (pamatnik-terezin.cz).
- By bus: direct bus 413 from Praha-Letňany (platform L, metro C) to Terezín, U památníku for the Small Fortress, or Terezín, Autobusové nádraží for the Ghetto Museum. It takes 56 to 62 minutes and runs hourly, with departures at 8:37, 9:37 and 10:37 from Letňany (IDOS).
- By train: there is no direct train. Praha hlavní nádraží to Bohušovice nad Ohří takes 1 hour 4 minutes and costs 125 to 145 CZK each way (trains at 8:47 and 10:47), then about 40 minutes on by bus or on foot. The nearest other stop is Litoměřice (the memorial’s directions).

The ticket is valid for 4 days, and each site can be visited once. Entry is free on 27 January, Holocaust Remembrance Day, and on the third Sunday of May, the Terezín Commemoration.
By train and entry the day costs 560 to 600 CZK (£19 to £21), plus the leg from Bohušovice.

- The Small Fortress. Included in the 310 CZK ticket · daily, 9:00 to 17:00 April to October and 9:00 to 16:00 November to March. From 1940 to 1945 it was the Prague Gestapo’s prison for opponents of the Nazi regime. The route runs through the guards’ offices and the prisoners’ cells, with the showers, the sick bay, the hospital and the execution ground, and a 500 m corridor of the original fortifications. A film about its history starts at 9:00 and then every 30 minutes.
- The Ghetto Museum. Included · daily, 9:00 to 17:00 all year. From November 1941 the Nazis held Jewish people deported from the Protectorate, and later from Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Denmark, in the town of Terezín. In under four years more than 140,000 Jewish prisoners passed through. About 35,000 died there of hunger, stress and the conditions. More than 87,000 were sent on in 63 transports, almost all to Auschwitz-Birkenau after October 1942, and fewer than 3,800 of them survived (pamatnik-terezin.cz).
- The Museum of Art and the Prayer Room. Included · daily, 9:00 to 17:00 all year. The Museum of Art is in the former Magdeburg Barracks. The Prayer Room dates from the ghetto.
- The crematorium, columbarium, mortuary and ceremonial halls. Included · closed Saturdays · 10:00 to 17:00 April to October, 10:00 to 16:00 November to March, with a 30-minute lunch break. They are not open on a Saturday.

Practical information
- Guides: guided tours are included in the entrance fee but must be booked in advance, on +420 416 724 535 or +420 604 241 179 (8:00 to 16:30). A guide on the day is not guaranteed. If none is free, a printed guidebook costs 5 CZK and audio guides can be downloaded for the Small Fortress and for the ghetto.
- Closed: 24, 25 and 26 December and 1 January. On 23 and 31 December the sites close at 15:00.
- Allow: a morning or an afternoon; the tour from Prague takes 4½ hours.
Terezín is one of the day trips from Prague. It can be combined with Bohemian Switzerland in a longer day, and Dresden is the other trip north of Prague.
