What to skip: the Flexi ticket, unless the weather or your plans are uncertain. It costs €3 more than the dated online ticket.

Phoenix Park
Phoenix Park is a mile and a half from O’Connell Street. It was formed as a royal hunting park in the 1660s and opened to the public in 1747. It is free and open 24 hours a day. The main gates, at Parkgate Street and Castleknock, are open round the clock, and the side gates are open from about 7:00 to about 22:45.
- The deer. A large herd of wild fallow deer lives in the park. Do not feed or approach them.
- The Visitor Centre and Ashtown Castle. Free. The castle is a tower house that probably dates from the seventeenth century, and the Visitor Centre has an exhibition on the park’s history. The restored Victorian kitchen garden next to it is open daily 10:00 to 16:00, and the Biodiversity Centre opens on Wednesdays and Sundays. Closed 25, 26, 30 and 31 December.
- The Áras an Uachtaráin. Free tours of the President’s residence run almost every Saturday, and tickets are handed out on the day at the Visitor Centre, first come first served. See free things to do in Dublin.
- Farmleigh. The grounds, gardens and gallery are free daily 10:00 to 18:00, and the house is closed for the rest of 2026.
- Cars. The OPW advises leaving no valuables in a parked car, including in the boot. Barbecues, camping and drones are banned.
