What it covers and leaves out

On all three passes: the Guinness Storehouse, the Big Bus 24-hour hop-on hop-off ticket, EPIC, Jameson Bow St., Teeling, St Patrick’s Cathedral, Christ Church Cathedral, the GPO Museum, Dublin Zoo and the Irish Rock ‘n’ Roll Museum. On Explorer and All-Inclusive only: Dublinia, the Little Museum of Dublin, the Museum of Literature Ireland, 14 Henrietta Street, the Jeanie Johnston tall ship and the Game of Thrones Studio Tour. Go City also lists free sights, such as the National Museum and the Irish Museum of Modern Art, which add nothing to the sums.

  • The one-day All-Inclusive pass needs four sights. Three at about €24 each cost €72, which is less than €79, and the fourth takes the total past it.
  • Explorer pays sooner. Three attractions save €3 to €12.50, depending on whether the bus is one of them.
  • Closed days cut the count. The GPO Museum is closed on Sundays, 14 Henrietta Street on Mondays and Tuesdays, and most sights close from 24 to 26 December: see what to book before you go to Dublin.

Which to buy

  • Two days of the Liberties, Docklands and cathedral sights: the two-day All-Inclusive pass at €109, which pays from about six paid sights over the two days.
  • One big day: the one-day pass at €79, with Guinness, Jameson, EPIC, St Patrick’s and Christ Church, which cost €95 at the operators’ prices.
  • A light list: no pass. Pay at the door or online, and book Kilmainham and the Book of Kells directly.
  • Slots still need booking. Reserve the Guinness Storehouse at reservations.gocity.com before you go.

Guinness Storehouse tickets, Dublin whiskey distillery tours, EPIC, the cathedrals, the 1916 Easter Rising and Dublin Zoo each have the operator’s own prices. Kilmainham Gaol tickets, Book of Kells tickets and Croke Park are the sights the pass leaves out. Free things to do in Dublin lists what costs nothing, and 3 days in Dublin builds the plan round the bookings. Hop-on hop-off buses in Dublin compares the bus tickets, and Dublin public transport has the fares.
