💡 The Short Version: A day ticket with a locker is 13,200 HUF on a weekday (about £30), 14,800 HUF from Friday to Sunday and 15,800 HUF on peak days, up about 20% since June 2025. No child under 14 is admitted. The bath is open to 22:00 on Fridays, and the price is the same online and at the door, but online tickets are served first when it is full. Or book a ticket: GetYourGuide’s Széchenyi Spa Tickets with Optional Upgradesad (from £33, GetYourGuide) costs about the same as buying direct.
The tickets, compared
Prices are from the bath’s price list for 2026, converted at about 434 HUF to the pound. The operator is Budapest Spas, and the operator’s own site is szechenyibath.hu: look-alike ticket sites turn up in search results. Prices are per person, and the same daily ticket applies to every age.

- Peak days in 2026 are 23 to 25 October and 18 December 2026 to 6 January 2027, when the bath opens at 8:00. On 25 December and 1 January it is open until 20:00.
- The price rose from 11,000 HUF on weekdays in June 2025, when Friday to Sunday was 12,500 HUF and holidays 13,500 HUF.
- Budapest Card: 20% off the standard locker ticket, on site only, at the steam entrance. The Budapest Card guide runs the sums.
- No concessions: the bath sells one daily ticket for all ages. It has no family, pensioner or half-day ticket.
- Euros are not accepted.
How to buy and get in
- Online: the bath’s webshop at tickets.szechenyibath.hu sells tickets 180 days ahead. Once you confirm, there is no change of date and no refund, so a plan that depends on the weather is a reason to buy at the door.
- At the door: the bath entrance opposite the Circus, on Állatkerti körút, sells daily tickets from card-only machines. The steam entrance by metro line M1 sells them for cash or card. Online tickets are treated as priority when the bath is full.
- At the gate: you cannot enter on a QR code. Exchange it for a wristband, which is your key, and keep it until you leave. Download the ticket before you arrive, because a booking number alone is not enough.
- Fast Track: enter at the spa entrance. The morning ticket must be used to enter by 11:00, and the afternoon ticket after 15:00.
- Peak days: the operator posts the days it changes opening hours on its opening hours page.

Tickets and tours worth paying for
The operator’s ticket is enough for most visitors. The products below are on GetYourGuide, and prices are its lowest “from” prices, per person.
Széchenyi Spa Tickets with Optional Upgrades
From £33 · 4.3 stars from 28,291 reviews
Budapest: Széchenyi Spa Tickets with Optional Upgradesad is the listing most visitors buy. The operator’s weekday ticket is 13,200 HUF (about £30) and the Friday to Sunday ticket 14,800 HUF (about £34), so the “from” price is inside that range.
Fast Track admission with a locker
From £50 · 4.4 stars from 8 reviews
Budapest: Széchenyi Baths – Fast Track Admission with Lockerad is the skip-the-queue ticket. The operator’s own Fast Track is 15,200 to 17,800 HUF (about £35 to £41), so this one costs about £9 to £15 more.
Sparty, the Saturday-night party
From £62 · 4.2 stars from 1,805 reviews
Budapest: Sparty – The Ultimate Late-Night Spa Party Ticketad is the Saturday-night electronic-music party held in the bath. Sparty runs every Saturday from February to December, and the organisers also sell tickets on spartybooking.com and on the night. The party takes the bath over, so daytime services are not available during it.
What to see
Széchenyi has no time limit: a daily ticket lets you stay until closing, and you move between the pools as you like. This is a sensible order:
- The outdoor thermal pool (P1). At 38 °C and 1.4 m deep, it is the one in the pictures, and the operator calls it a famous place to play chess. Go here first and stay as long as the day suits.
- The leisure pool (P3). Outdoors at 34 °C.
- The indoor thermal area. Seven pools, from a 28 °C indoor swimming pool to pools at 38 °C.
- The steam area. Six pools, with cold plunge pools at 18 and 20 °C and a hot plunge at 40 °C, to end a session.
- The saunas. Ten saunas and steam rooms, among them the Volcano sauna at 70 to 80 °C, the Dante and Phoenix saunas at 80 to 90 °C, two aroma saunas at 50 to 55 °C and a salt inhalation steam room. Sit on a towel in a sauna: skin or swimwear must not touch the bench. Phones and slippers do not go in.

What to skip: the 50-metre lap pool unless you swim lengths, because it needs a cap and it is closed from 12 to 23 October 2026 for maintenance. The medical area (P17 to P19) is open only with a prescription. The Private Spa rooms and the Dayspalm packages, from 29,000 HUF a person, are extras that most visitors do not need.
Hours, rules and getting there
| Day | Bath open | Pools, saunas and hot air chambers |
|---|---|---|
| Monday to Thursday | 7:00 to 20:00 | 7:00 to 19:40 |
| Friday | 7:00 to 22:00 | 7:00 to 21:40 |
| Saturday and Sunday | 8:00 to 20:00 | 8:00 to 19:40 |
- Last entry is an hour before closing, and the pools must be cleared 20 minutes before closing. The Dayspalm is closed on 6 October 2026 and closes at 14:00 on 23 October.
- Children: no one under 14 is admitted, outdoor pools included, since 1 August 2025. Under-14s may come only with a medical certificate from a rheumatologist or orthopaedic doctor, including the ICD code, sent 24 hours ahead. The operator points families to Csillaghegy, Paskál and Palatinus. The thermal baths compared covers them.
- Swimwear: swimwear made for swimming, such as a swimsuit, bikini or swim shorts. Street clothes, leggings, sports bras and underwear are banned in the pools. A cap is required only in the lap pool.
- Slippers: mandatory in the bath, and not allowed in the pools.
- Towels and robes: none are lent or rented. The bath’s shop sells a towel at 6,900 HUF, a bathrobe at 12,600, slippers at 4,200, a cap at 2,100 and a swimsuit at 6,300 HUF.
- Lockers: small, big enough for a backpack. A cabin holds luggage, and one cabin can serve a group.
- Food and drink: food may be brought in. Alcohol may not. The restaurant opens at 8:00.
- Access: the building is not fully barrier-free, and the staff will find a cabin big enough for a wheelchair if you ask on arrival.
- Getting there: the bath is at Állatkerti körút 9 to 11 in the City Park. Metro line M1 stops at Széchenyi fürdő, and trolleybus 72 serves it. There is no car park. Budapest public transport has the fares.
Széchenyi is one of five baths worth choosing from: see Budapest’s thermal baths compared for Rudas, Lukács, Dandár and Palatinus, and for why the Gellért Baths are closed. The Budapest Card takes 20% off the ticket. For the rest of the city’s bookings, see what to book before you go to Budapest. 3 days in Budapest and Budapest in one day build the plan round the bookings. After the bath, where to eat in Budapest lists places to eat, and Budapest ruin bars cover the night out. The Hungarian Parliament and the House of Terror are the other sights to book, and the House of Terror is on Andrássy út, along the same metro line. To sleep nearby, where to stay in Budapest compares the areas; best time to visit Budapest covers the seasons.
Common questions
How much are Széchenyi Baths tickets?
A daily ticket with a locker is 13,200 HUF on Monday to Thursday, 14,800 HUF from Friday to Sunday and 15,800 HUF on holidays and peak days (about £30, £34 and £36). A Fast Track ticket with a locker, sold only online, is 15,200, 16,800 and 17,800 HUF. A cabin is 1,000 HUF extra. The price is the same online and at the door.
Can children go to Széchenyi Baths?
No child under 14 has been admitted since 1 August 2025, and the rule covers the whole bath, outdoor pools included. Under-14s may enter only with a medical certificate from a rheumatologist or orthopaedic doctor, sent for approval 24 hours before the visit. Bring the child's passport or ID.
What time does Széchenyi Baths open and close?
Monday to Thursday 7:00 to 20:00, Friday 7:00 to 22:00, and Saturday and Sunday 8:00 to 20:00. Cash desks close an hour before closing and the pools must be vacated 20 minutes before closing. On holidays and peak days the bath opens at 8:00.
Do I need to book Széchenyi Baths in advance?
No, but the operator advises it. Tickets go on sale 180 days ahead, online tickets are served first when the bath is full, and an online ticket cannot be changed or refunded once bought.
What is the difference between a daily ticket and Fast Track at Széchenyi?
A daily ticket enters at the bath entrance, where you may wait if the bath is full. A Fast Track ticket enters at the spa entrance without a queue and is split into a morning ticket, entered by 11:00, and an afternoon ticket, entered after 15:00. Both let you stay until closing.
What should I bring to Széchenyi Baths?
Swimwear, a towel and slippers, because the bath lends and rents nothing. It sells a towel for 6,900 HUF and slippers for 4,200 HUF. A swimming cap is required only in the lap pool. Food may be brought in, but not alcohol.
Does the Budapest Card cover Széchenyi Baths?
It gives 20% off the standard daily ticket with a locker, on site only, and not on Fast Track, Good Morning or Private Spa tickets. Show the card at the steam entrance near metro line M1.
