💡 The Short Version: The Montjuïc cable car costs €19.00 return, or €17.10 online at Hola Barcelona, the official store. It runs 750 m from Parc Montjuïc, beside the funicular, up to Montjuïc Castle, and a return ticket lets you get off at the Alcalde viewpoint and at the castle. It is not covered by a metro ticket or a travel card: the funicular from Paral·lel is on the metro fare, and the port cable car from Barceloneta is a different line. The cable car runs every day from 10:00, closing between 18:00 and 21:00 by season; the castle (€12) and the museums on the hill charge separately. Or book a tour: the walking tour with the castle and cable carad (from £46.28, 3½ hours) puts the old town, the funicular, the cable car and the castle in one booking.

Montjuïc is a hill, with the castle at the top and museums and gardens down the slope. The cable car has three stations: Parc Montjuïc, at the top of the funicular; the Castell; and the Mirador, at the Alcalde viewpoint. The upward run goes straight from Parc Montjuïc to the castle; the return stops at the Mirador and ends back at Parc Montjuïc (telefericdemontjuic.cat, 30 September 2026).

The route: take the funicular from Paral·lel to Parc de Montjuïc, ride the cable car to the castle, go round the castle, and ride down with a stop at the Mirador del Alcalde. Then walk to whichever museum is open.

Common questions

How much is the Montjuïc cable car?

An adult return is €19.00, or €17.10 (10% off) booked online at Hola Barcelona, the official TMB store, on 30 September 2026. Children aged 4 to 12 pay €13.00, or €11.70 online, and under-4s go free. What are the Montjuïc cable car's opening hours?

From 10:00 every day of the year. It closes at 18:00 from January to February and from November to December, 19:00 from March to May and in October, and 21:00 from June to September. On 25 December, 1 January and 6 January it closes at 14:30. Last access is 15 minutes before closing, 20 minutes before for the full route.
