How to buy

  • Online at tickets.adamlookout.com, for €2 less than the box office. The ticket carries a time, and you can stay as long as you like within the opening hours.
  • At the box office in the tower, at the higher price.
  • The swing slot is the admission slot. Book the swing with the ticket. The Lookout says there is always a place within your slot and that you will not wait longer than 15 minutes.
  • With the City Card or a Go City Pass: go straight in without booking. To add a swing, use the Lookout’s upgrade page.
  • Eating: you cannot bring your own food or drink. A table at Moon includes entry to the observation deck and the indoor experience, but not the experience lift or the digital photo.

Tours worth paying for

The Lookout is a ticket, not a tour, and GetYourGuide sells it at the Lookout’s own price. What GetYourGuide adds are the meal combinations and, with the Heineken Experience, a cruise. Prices are GetYourGuide’s lowest “from” price on 1 October 2026, per person.

What to see

The Lookout is on the roof of the A’DAM Tower, 100 metres up. A visit is short: the audio tour takes about 30 minutes, and the swing about a minute, so allow an hour.

  1. The lift. The experience lift takes you from the 1st to the 20th floor in 20 seconds, with light and sound effects and a transparent ceiling.
  2. The indoor deck. Floor-to-ceiling windows and binoculars, which the Lookout says work in bad weather. The free audio tour, about 30 minutes, uses the view as its guide.
  3. The Skydeck. An outdoor deck with a 360° view of the historic centre, the canals, the port and the polder landscape. Go up before dusk if you want the swing photo: the staff take photos on the swing only in daylight.
  4. The swing. “Over the Edge”, which the Lookout calls Amsterdam’s highest swing, lasts about a minute. Do not use it with heart problems, abnormal blood pressure, pregnancy, recent surgery or a fear of heights. The combined weight limit for two seats is 200 kg. No phones, rucksacks, flip-flops, food, drink or loose items.
  5. The food. Madam, the skybar and restaurant on the 20th floor, serves lunch, dinner and cocktails; Moon revolves on the 19th floor. A burger menu is served daily from 12:00 to 16:00.

What to skip: the VR ride, unless you want it. It runs 2½ minutes and costs €7.50 on top of admission.

Hours, rules and getting there

  • Open daily, 10:00 to 22:00, last admission 21:00.
  • Getting there: from Amsterdam Centraal, take the free F3 ferry from the IJ side to Buiksloterweg (Amsterdam public transport lists the other free IJ ferries). It runs every 5 minutes, day and night. Turn left and walk along the water. The entrance is on the waterfront opposite the EYE Film Museum, at IJpromenade 4. There is a car park under the tower.
  • Lockers: on the 20th floor, for a fee, with space for a coat and a small bag.
  • Accessibility: the ground floor, the first floor, the 20th floor and the Skydeck are accessible. A visitor with a disability pays the standard price, and one carer goes free with an EU Disability Card. For visitors who find the lift’s flashing lights a problem, a second lift without them is run by staff: tell the ticket office.
  • Dogs: not allowed, except assistance dogs.
  • Photos: personal photography and filming are allowed on the Skydeck.

The Heineken Experience sells a ticket that ends here. The I amsterdam City Card makes the Lookout free. For the rest of the city’s bookings, see what to book before you go in Amsterdam. 3 days in Amsterdam puts the Lookout on day three, and Amsterdam in one day finishes there.
