What to see
Allow 1½ to 2 hours on your own. The Fondation’s site lists the house, the flower garden and the water garden.

- The Clos Normand, the rectangular flower garden. Tour operators list tulips, irises, roses and nasturtiums among more than a hundred varieties.
- The house, restored to its rooms as Monet lived in them, from 1883 to 1926: the blue sitting-room, the yellow dining-room hung with Japanese prints, and his bedroom upstairs. The house is not wheelchair-accessible; the gardens are.
- The water garden, through an underpass, with the willows, bamboo, lily pond and the Japanese bridge. This is the scene of the Water Lilies paintings, and the half-day coach trip gives it 45 minutes, the longest stop in the garden.
- The shop, in Monet’s former studio.
- Monet’s tomb, in the village, a stop on the half-day coach trip.
Picnics, painting and drawing are not allowed. The restaurant, Les Nymphéas, is in front of the house and open every day of the season.

When the garden is open
The garden is open every day from 1 April to 1 November 2026. From 2 November it is closed until the next season, so a trip planned for winter needs another destination: Versailles, open all year and closed on Mondays, is the usual substitute. GetYourGuide’s calendars for the half-day coach trip, the minibus tour, the guided tour at the garden and the Giverny and Versailles tour already run into 2027.

Giverny is one of several day trips from Paris, and one of the cheapest. For a longer day with a train, see the Loire châteaux or a champagne day trip. For what to book in the city, see what to book before you go.
Common questions
When is Monet's garden at Giverny open?
Every day from 1 April to 1 November 2026, from 10:00 to 18:00, with last admission at 17:30. It is closed from November to March, so an autumn or winter day trip to Giverny cannot include the garden.
How do you get from Paris to Giverny?
Take a train from Gare Saint-Lazare to Vernon-Giverny, 45 minutes to 1 hour 30 depending on the service, then the shuttle bus to the garden at €5 single or €10 return. The station is 6 km from Giverny's museums. You can also hire a bike at Vernon station.
How much is a ticket to Monet's house and gardens?
€13 for an adult, €7 for children aged 7 to 17 and for students, and free under 7 (claudemonetgiverny.fr, 30 September 2026). Online booking is highly recommended, and once the online quota is sold there are long waits at the gate. There is no skip-the-line entrance.
Is a tour to Giverny worth it?
It saves the train, the change at Vernon and the shuttle, and includes the ticket. Half-day coach tours with entry start at £50.57 on GetYourGuide. On your own the ticket and the shuttle are €23 (about £20) before the train fare, so you pay for convenience, not for access.
