💡 The Short Version: The Czartoryski Museum, which holds Leonardo’s Lady with an Ermine, sells timed tickets at 65 PLN (about £12.50), online or at its desk. It is closed on Mondays, and Tuesday is free, but free tickets are limited and collected at the desk on the day only. The painting is on the second floor, in Gallery 7. The ticket admits you from 15 minutes before to 30 minutes after the time printed, and the last admission is an hour before closing. The Czartoryski is outside the Kraków Card, and the museum’s 12-month pass does not cover it. Or book a tour: GetYourGuide’s Czartoryski Museum entry ticketad (£19 to £25) costs more than the museum’s own ticket.

What to see

The museum holds the Czartoryski princes’ collection, and its exhibition is spread across three buildings, so the museum says to allow 2 to 3 hours.

  1. Lady with an Ermine (second floor, Gallery 7). Leonardo’s portrait of Cecilia Gallerani, painted about 1490 in oil on a wooden panel, is one of just over a dozen surviving portraits by him and the only work by the artist in Polish collections. The ermine alludes to Duke Ludovico Sforza, who received the Order of the Ermine in 1488.
  2. Rembrandt’s Landscape with the Good Samaritan. It hangs in the same museum.
  3. The rest of the collection. Western European paintings, crafts, military artefacts and ancient art, with medieval art and the Czartoryski rooms.
  4. The temporary exhibition. “Precious, most precious. Works from the Princes Czartoryski Library” runs to 25 October 2026. The Czartoryski Library at ul. św. Marka 17 is closed for rebuilding.
