The Blue Mosque is the one to plan a morning around: 08:30 to 17:00 in winter and to 19:00 in summer, with the last visitor 30 minutes before closing. The Süleymaniye Mosque was commissioned by Suleiman the Magnificent and designed by Sinan, and finished in 1557; it stands on a hill above the Golden Horn. Squares, parks and the waterfront

Sultanahmet Square was the Hippodrome. The Ministry of Culture names the German (Kaiser Wilhelm) Fountain, the Obelisk of Theodosius and the Serpent Column among the monuments in it. Gülhane Park was once part of Topkapı’s gardens and is now a public park. The Galata Bridge links Karaköy and Eminönü over the Golden Horn. The best views in Istanbul separates the free viewpoints from the paid.
