💡 The Short Version: The Princes’ Islands are the easy trip: a ferry from Kabataş in under two hours, ₺151.23 per boarding. Edirne has had a train since 10 October 2026, with a change at Çerkezköy and 54 minutes on the fast leg. Bursa is a 13-hour tour from €24 that crosses the Sea of Marmara by ferry. Gallipoli is a 15 to 18 hour tour from €130, with five hours on the road each way. Cappadocia and Ephesus need a flight. Or book a tour: the Princes’ Islands at €14ad, Bursa at €26ad and Gallipoli at €130ad. A tour for Bursa, Gallipoli or Cappadocia replaces a ferry or flight and the road; the islands and Edirne are better on your own. Carry a passport or photo ID on every trip.

When a tour is worth it

A tour earns its price where the road is long or the connection is awkward.

  • Gallipoli. The tours lay on a minibus or coach, a guide and lunch for the 15 to 18 hour day, from €130ad. Doing it yourself needs a night in Çanakkale. The Gallipoli guide compares the tours.
  • Bursa. The tours handle the ferry and the coaches and add the Uludağ cable car, from €24ad. The Bursa guide says which one includes the cable car.
  • Cappadocia. The packages bundle the flights, the transfers and the accommodation, from €396ad. See Cappadocia from Istanbul.

Not worth a tour: the Princes’ Islands, where the ferry is a single fare and the tours add a shopping stop, and Edirne, where the train works and no group tour is listed.
